14. Jesus is laid in the tomb

We
adore you, O Christ, and we bless you,
because by your holy cross you have redeemed the
world.
Matthew 27:59-61
So
Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth and laid it in
his own new tomb, which he had hewn in the rock. He then rolled a great stone
to the door of the tomb and went away. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary
were there, sitting opposite the tomb.
Reflection
Now safe in this place she experiences grief at so
much loss: her parents so far away, her home gone for ever. She is alone, a
stranger in a strange land.
Prayer
Lord, we pray for all who grieve,
for those who feel sad and alone.
Sometimes it is hard for us to see
beyond the tomb to the resurrection.
Help us to remember that your love
has power to heal,
to transform our suffering, and
to bring forth beauty and hope.
Amen
