11. Jesus is nailed to the cross

We
adore you, O Christ, and we bless you,
because by your holy cross you have redeemed the
world.
Luke 23:33-34
When they came to the place that is
called The Skull, they crucified Jesus there with the criminals, one on his
right and one on his left. Then Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them; for they do
not know what they are doing.’
Reflection
For
her it is there is anxiety of the interview: will she be believed? For him it
is the journey to sign in at the police station: will he be arrested? For all
of them there is the endless fear, of the knock on the door, of the horrors of
the detention centre, of being forced on to a plane, back to the place from
which they have fled.
Prayer
Lord, we pray for all who suffer
pain inflicted by others:
for prisoners who are unlawfully detained,
for victims of abuse,
for those deprived of basic human rights.
For all the injustice in the world,
for our failing to hear the cries of others,
for not crying out ourselves when others suffer,
Lord, have mercy.
Amen.
